UMass Graduate

Hello, I'm Ava

I just graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in Kinesiology, and it turned out to be a perfect fit. I've always been drawn to how the body works, how it moves, adapts, breaks down, and recovers. That curiosity led me into sports medicine, where I worked directly with Division I athletes on injury prevention and rehab, and into research, where I spent nearly three years studying how wearable technology can help people live longer, more active lives.

What I love most about working in healthcare is the relationship side of it. Being there for someone when they're frustrated or working through something hard, and helping them get to a better place. That same instinct is what drew me to sales. At Ohana Vacations I discovered I genuinely enjoy the consultative process: understanding what someone needs, building trust, and guiding them toward the right solution. I'm now looking to bring both sides together in medical sales, where having a real clinical background actually means something.

Outside of work I run marathons. It has given me a real appreciation for what it takes mentally and physically to push through something hard, and honestly it has made me a better communicator and clinician for it.

Accomplishments & Passions

Marathon Running
A dedicated long-distance runner who has completed two full marathons. Training for and finishing a marathon takes the same qualities I try to bring to everything: consistency, resilience, and showing up even when it's hard.
Maine Marathon October 2024
Marine Corps Marathon October 2025
Physical Activity Research
Nearly three years in the EpiTech Physical Activity Lab deepened my understanding of how wearable technology and epidemiology intersect with public health. The lab's research, including work I contributed to, has been featured in The New York Times, NBC News, and NPR's Science Friday.
Sports Medicine & Orthopedics
Through clinical placements at UMass Athletics, MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital, and ATI Physical Therapy, I built hands-on experience across injury prevention, rehabilitation, and patient care, with over 150 hours of direct clinical exposure across multiple settings.
Sales MVP Recognition
While completing my degree full-time, I was recognized as MVP at Ohana Vacations in February for outstanding sales performance. I progressed from intern to managing full sales cycles on my own, handling everything from prospecting and client meetings to closing contracts.
